Karate Gradings
Gradings generally take place every 3 months. You will be able to
take a grading when you have gained the required number of hours
training and are competent with the various techniques including
Basics (Kihon), Forms (Kata)
and for the advanced belts Sparring (Kumite).
When you are successful you will be entitled to wear a coloured belt
and will move on to more advanced techniques ensuring continuous
development. For Dan grades permission must be sought from the Chief
Instructor before being allowed to Grade.
Grading Information
You must hold a valid UKSKO licence which you will need to take
along to your grading without it you will not be able to grade.
On Occasion a student may receive a 'Provisional' grade, which
means that they are not quite up to the required standard. They can
however wear the full grade belt and train on the same syllabus, but
in the next grading the student will need to retry for the full
grade

Grading Belts
Our belt system is as follows:
10th Kyu - Red
9th Kyu - Blue
8th Kyu - Purple White Stripe
7th Kyu - Purple
6th Kyu - Yellow
5th Kyu - Orange
4th Kyu - Green White Stripe
3rd Kyu - Green
2nd Kyu - Brown White Stripe
1st Kyu - Brown
1st Dan Black
2nd Dan Upwards.
